I would like to start off just by saying that holding class meetings was one of my absolute favorite things as a teacher. Every Friday at the end of the day we would gather in a circle and discuss our week and our goals for the upcoming week. It created an atmosphere of love and understanding in my classroom and helped the children to feel comfortable solving problems on their own, or asking for help when they couldn’t solve something alone. We got to get to know each other on another level that wasn’t so much me in charge, but all of us working together for a common goal. Here is how I started it all out. Once you get the feel for it, you will no longer need a script, but the first few meetings are pretty crucial.
