Product Description
This pack was created for the busy teacher that needs meaningful and rigorous reading mini lessons. These lessons are perfect for the reading workshop setting. There are 20 instructional days included in this pack. However, MANY additional activities are provided for the teacher to use, so that this unit may last longer than the 20 days. Please note, that the lessons begin with week SEVEN, as they are a continuation of Developing Readers Unit One. However, these lessons can be used independently of Unit One and students do not need Unit One in order to be successful with this unit.

To keep the lessons flexible, the lessons are written in bulleted form for the week. The lessons are still clear and explicit for the teacher, but flexible enough to adjust and rearrange as needed. One bullet represents one day or lesson, although the teacher is free to tweak the lessons as needed. The lessons are written a week at a time. The materials needed for each lesson are hyperlinked, to make them easy to find in the pack.

Printable anchor charts in color and black and white are also included. To make sure that all students can see the anchor charts for instruction, a digital, projectable copy is also included for Active or Smartboards.

Two formative assessments and one summative assessment is included in this unit. Please note that only one formative assessment is included in the Unit at a Glance. The other assessments can be administered when the teacher sees fit. There are two versions of the summative assessment. The first is labeled with the CCS. The second is not labeled with any standards.

This unit covers the following ideas:
• Determining the differences in literary and informational texts
• Understanding, identifying and using text features
• Asking and answering questions about an informational text with a focus on using text features.
