The student lab workbook takes students through a series of eight tasks based on investigating the rate of a chemical reaction. These investigations are designed for Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 students to experience and understand science practices. Through these investigations the students experience the process of testing a hypothesis, carrying out an observation., deciding on variables, collecting data, and reaching conclusions.
The unique aspect of this lab is not just about experimenting, it also include problems related to the science processes through problems posed at each stage requiring students to think about what they are doing as they carry out the investigation.
The student inquiry skills workbook furthers students’ comprehension and application of science process skills through visual problem solving activities. Problems are divided up into three parts; those involving Planning an Investigation, Collecting Data, and Evaluating Evidence. This is a workbook students can start in class and continue for homework or continue working on in class independently or in groups.
Hence, as a result of these two lessons students will acquire knowledge, comprehension, and application of science process skills terminology such as:
Model, Scientific Law, Independent and Dependent Variable, Key Variable, Fair Test, Validity, Precision, Accuracy, Analysis, Interpretation, and Anomalous Data.

This product was put together to help students as well as novice teachers of science learn about science process skills.
