At last - an articulation test that is created for (and normed on) Australian children. The Developmental Articulation Screening Test considers all consonant sounds and blends in Australian English in all relevant word positions. It can be used as a screening tool or as the basis for a more comprehensive assessment to inform therapy.
Norms are expressed in terms of age of acquisition as well as school year, thus children should arrive in kindergarten / prep / pre-school with the t' and 'd' sounds already established, whereas the 's' sound is not expected until Pre-Primary. This makes the norms chart particularly helpful to Speech Pathologists working within schools.
