To "wrap up" a Developmental Psychology unit, have your students respond to 22 behaviors from their imaginary child. The imaginary child exhibits a variety of behaviors at different ages (from 6-months old to adulthood). Remind students that they may not be abusive or neglectful. Their responses should be aligned with accepted cultural practices, laws, and the research of neuroscientists, psychologists, and educators (e.g., Piaget, Erikson, Kohlberg, Harlow, Baumrind, Sacks, Montessori, etc.). Students apply what they have learned in this parenting simulation. Can be completed individually or cooperatively, and may used as a discussion starter.
