Each year, my 2nd graders learn how to locate books using the Dewey Decimal System in our school’s library. We learn about one section per week and they get to check out an extra book from that section (that’s kind of a big deal-they get THREE books and everyone else gets two!)
This would also be a great project for higher readers! Organizing your library by dewey decimal system required deductive reasoning, research, inference, and categorizing!
I made these labels for our classroom so the kids can continue to use and practice this learning. The small labels are for our book boxes (measure 2.25”x4.25”) The larger ones are for a wall display next to my nonfiction area, but would also fit nicely on larger book bins.
Labels come in black option and white option
I do plan on adding labels for our book baskets that fall in between in popular categories like space, land mammals, etc. These will be available in this download, so there is no need for an additional purchase. I will simply revise this file.
