This PowerPoint is a Dewey Decimal presentation for Library Media Specialists to use with students in grades 3-5. It is a presentation that explains how the nonfiction section of the library is organized. There is a pretest and post-test slide at the end to begin and end the lesson with. There are also some notes for teachers to follow as they present. At the end of the PowerPoint I included a sheet that lets the students apply what they have learned. All the media specialist has to prepare are a set of books that each group of students can practice with. By teaching students how the Nonfiction section of the library works they can more easily navigate during their research; which is vital with Common Core. I attached everything in a zip folder and both the PowerPoint and practice sheet are in documents that can be edited. This way you can make it your own if you would like to.
