The Dewey Posters Activity:
This item is for the Powerpoint Slideshow to show the students the second day (and can be reused for as many weeks as you need to continue and finish the poster.) Remember to use the worksheet alongside. My school library is on a fixed schedule, so I only see the students once a week, and so often I plan lessons that have to go over more than one class period. That's why this PPT can be used repeatedly to remind the students what they are working on.
After the PPT and Worksheet, in small groups, have students look at one main class, and choose 3 - 5 books to use for examples. Using construction paper, markers, and their creativity, make a poster that represents the class. Each poster should have at least 10 pictures, the main class, the numbers (000-099, 100 - 199, etc), along with an example of when to use this category (Ex: 500 - 599, Use this category when looking for science experiments!).
