Students read a letter in Spanish that Maria Luisa writes to her Abuelita on Dia de los Muertos because she is missing her grandma on this day that she normally celebrates with her. Addresses the sad/happy question many students have about the day. Includes reference to the four elements of an ofrenda, typical Mexican music, and a question guide to help guide a TPR discussion or have students answer independently. Finishes with an assignment for students to write their own letters and think about the type of items they would use to honor their loved ones. Uses mostly basic vocab and object pronouns.
