In this PBL project, students will use symptoms and medical history of a patient to diagnose a genetic disease. Once a correct diagnosis is made, students will receive additional information to help them create a pedigree or karyotype of their patient. They will then make predictions about the probability of passing the genetic disease onto their children using punnett squares. Finally, students will create an awareness campaign to share information about the disease with the public.
This packet includes everything you need to complete the project including an entry document, patient profile and question set for 14 different patients, instructions and checklist for awareness campaign. Also includes teacher notes with a list of the genetic diseases for each patient profile.
