Product Description
This document can be used when introducing the science strands related to Matter/Properties of Matter/Changes of State.

The first page is a "KNEW/NEW" chart - which asks students to activate their prior learning (what they already knew about ice, water, and steam).

The second page is where students record observations of the three states (solid, liquid, gas) of water. In my class I had centers set up where students were able to explore:
> water in ice form
> water in liquid form
> water in steam form (which I supervised-boiling hot water)

Students are encouraged to record what they notice (smell, touch, see, hear). I also encouraged students to look at the shape, volume, and temperature of each state.

After recording observations, students will return to the "NEW" column and reflect on their NEW states of matter knowledge.
