Dialogue Practice for Narratives
Practice building sentences with dialogue using three variation models.
Create dynamic and varied sentences that bring out the author’s style and voice.
Each model begins with an introduction, definitions, and examples; then leads into guided practice with gradual release until building sentences independently.
Build unique sentences in each of the three models, or use the same sentences and practice rearranging them into the three different structures.
Model 1: Speaker tag is BEFORE the quoted dialogue.
Model 2: Speaker tag is AFTER the quoted dialogue.
Model 3: Speaker tag INTERRUPTS the quoted dialogue.
