I like to have my kids work with Point of View and journaling as a character is a perfect way to do it. I've found though, when asked to write it in their notebooks or binders, it is rushed and not taken as seriously. I've designed this simple handout for two reasons: 1. It helps them know that I'm checking and collecting it. 2. They need to fill in the entire page, probing for more information and more complex sentence structure. The tiniest switch in formatting has made them write stronger journal responses!
