After studying the life cycle of frogs, we read Diary of a Worm, Diary of a Spider, and Diary of a Fly by Doreen Cronin.
Then students had to pretend to be a tadpole and write a diary with 3-4 entries about the changes they were going through becoming a frog.
**Could use to discuss/teach the life cycle of a butterfly as well. Students could discuss hatching out of the egg, eating the shell, filling up on leaves, building a chrysalis, and then after two weeks, emerging as a butterfly.
I copied this front to back and folded it in half to make a book.
Each page had a diary entry and an illustration.
