Diary of a Frog/Butterfly/Ladybug and More Pack!
After studying the life cycle of frogs, we read Diary of a Worm, Diary of a Spider, and Diary of a Fly by Doreen Cronin.
Then students had to pretend to be a tadpole and write a diary with 3-4 entries about the changes they were going through becoming a frog. They had to include that they grew hind legs, (tadpole with hind legs) they grew front legs (froglet), developed lungs and needed to go to the surface to breathe, and that their tails shrunk and disappeared. Many also included the change in diet.
I copied this front to back and folded it in half to make a book.
Each page had a diary entry and an illustration.
**Could use to discuss/teach the life cycle of a butterfly as well. Students could discuss hatching out of the egg, eating the
shell, filling up on leaves, building a chrysalis, and then after two weeks, emerging as a butterfly.
