This 3-4 week writing unit teaches students about point of view in writing and how perspective changes depending on who is doing the writing.
Students create a 10 entry diary written by an animal of their choice. They illustrate and publish their diaries as books.
Students use research skills as they research their chosen animal prior to writing the entry.
The unit uses picture books as mentor texts. Four books are suggested, but any books written from an animal's point of view work.
