I created this book for elementary students. This year, I have a group of children that are particularly sensitive. I created this to teach them about los Días de los Muertos. I know this is an important holiday for our Mexican communities, and it needed to be recognized in our studies. I also wanted to meet the needs of my one group of students who are a little more sensitive. I tried to present the traditions and meaning of los Días de los Muertos, and preserve all the important elements that make this day special.
I project this to my active board and read it with my students. Then, we follow up by doing the cut, create, and illustrate book and make tissue paper flowers. (Look for videos on line for some great tutorials on how to make tissue paper flowers.)
