This version of the typical dice-roll fluency game includes words from the Fountas & Pinnell high frequency word lists. Words include the lists from Kindergarten to 4th grade, as we all know that we have a range of reading levels in our classrooms!
There are many ways that this game can be played – you can have students do this activity independently (maybe into a whisper phone), or with a partner. Students roll the dice and find the first word under their number. They first say the word, then
they write the word to practice its spelling. If they are playing with a partner, they will alternate rolling the dice. They can compete to see who gets the most words correct, or just alternate without competition. You can also give the students the option to say and write the word their partner rolls, or just the words they roll.
