This is a three part assignment. You can use part or all of it.
First they review the “Principles of Identification” with accompanying worksheet.
Second you create a dichotomous key using the students to demonstrate.
Then they make their own dichotomous key. Rubric provided.
There are a lot of options and ideas included. How to adapt to different age groups, final product options and a quick tutorial on how to use PowerPoint to complete the project.
You could even use this in elementary level using geometric shapes or similar concepts.
