Product Description
New Resource! I developed this key because I wanted to reduce my printing down to one page and most of the dichotomous keys I had on hand were 2 pages long and the images were faded from photocopying over the years.

Solution! Draw 12 crisp and clear lizards and arrange them on one page and make a key that fits on the same page. Viola! A one page no prep printable ready to use every year. Of course I've included the answer key as well. :)

Click on the preview for a better look at the lovely lizards and the key.

BENEFITS OF THIS PARTICULAR KEY

I have drawn the lizard diagrams (using Adobe Illustrator) in this dichotomous key so that the distinguishing characteristics of each lizard would be clear and easy to see for students.

One benefit of using the same type of organism (all lizards) is that students will get a chance to experience what it is like to have to classify organisms that can seem the same at first glance. This simulates the difficulties that exist in the real world when it comes to classification.

When a new species of organism is found, it is immediately compared to those closest to it in morphology. This is when a researcher’s powers of observation will come in most handy to pick out the small, but significant differences between the new organism and those that have already been classified and named.
