To all my literacy people out there: I hope you enjoy this easy-to-use dictionary activity! I use this many times throughout the year and each time my students gain confidence and become better dictionary detectives. I hope you discover the same results with your class.
This activity is to be used once you have taught and modeled how to use a dictionary. Your students could complete the activity independently or in pairs.
...and the BEST part is that you can choose which version of this product you would like to use:
* Students search for words with a particular prefix OR suffix then record information about the word using a dictionary. YOU choose the prefix or suffix based on what your students are learning in class.
For example: Third graders learn about the prefix "re-" so I would have my students "hunt" for words that begin with the prefix "re-" (like reread or reapply) then complete the chart.
* Students locate their spelling words OR vocabulary words for any given week then record information about each word using a dictionary.
* This product is able to be printed front & back, in full color, and in black & white. A blank copy is included, also.
I just LOVE how versatile this activity is and how I can integrate it into the many different parts of my literacy instruction. I hope you enjoy it too!
