This activity uses dictionary skills disguised as a game! Students roll a die (I use a huge orange set) then answer one of the questions from that column on their answer sheet. Drills include finding words, defining words, using the extra boxes such as prefix and suffix meanings, and the reference section. 3 games are included, each varying in difficulty with a student sheet and an answer sheet. I used the 2002 Updated version of Scholastic Children's Dictionary. Other version could be used for the drills, but the answers may vary. Also included are directions for how to use a dictionary (I have it taped inside each dictionary,) a directions page, and a resource page. This activity is great as a center because students do not need to finish in one sitting! Words chosen were based on student interest and adding new words to their vocabulary.
