Using the dictionary in the classroom is great way to build alphabetical awareness and vocabulary. Let the students start the year off by exploring the dictionary by finding their own words.
As you move throughout the year, students are asked to find specific words and locate the page number as well as illustrate the picture. There are specific task cards that are included with each group of dictionary activities. After students master finding words in the dictionary, there is a set of activities for students to find and write a sentence using the meaning of the word.
