This is a fun dictionary race game for students to learn new vocabulary and practice dictionary skills. It includes 80 words geared for grades 3-5. It can be used in work stations, small group, early finishers, or during RTI. Meets TEKS 3.4E, 4.2E and 5.2E

Objective: Students will use a dictionary to determine the meanings, syllabication, and pronunciation of unknown words
Number of Players: Three or More
Materials: One set of word cards copied on cardstock, One dictionary per student
Guidelines: The youngest student starts as game leader. Shuffle the word cards and place them face down. The game leader draws a card and reads the word aloud. The other players look for the word in the dictionary.
The first player to find the word yells “Dictionary Diva” or “Dictionary Dude” The game leader makes sure the word is correct, then the Dictionary Diva or Dude reads the definition aloud and they become the game leader and play continues until all the word cards are played.
