What educators are saying

Dictionary skills are always worth a review and this resource made it really simple and efficient. Thank you!

Description

Do your students need more practice with dictionary skills? Specifically, do they need more syllable practice? Then you are in the right place! Use this as review or a fun literacy center!

This activity will have students trying to find as many syllables as they can using the prompts given. It gives them plenty of practice looking through the dictionary, and it takes enough time to make a GREAT center activity!

I used them during center time to have the students “race” to see who could find the most syllables during a 30 minute period. However, you do not have to do that. You can simply have students try to find words with as many syllables as they can. Since there are five worksheets, you could have students try to beat their previous total!

**It helps if students can all use dictionaries that are the same. It makes grading/checking the page number MUCH easier!**

I also find this is a great activity for practicing guide words!
