A tried-and-tested fun resource for secondary schoolers!
The resource focuses on 'Foley Artists' - the sound engineers who create sound effects for movies.
The resource begins with a reading activity, with comprehension questions, based on a foley artist who creates sound effects for horror movies (students love reading about this!).
This is followed by analysis of a short YouTube clip showing foley artists in action, in the studio.
The final section gets students creative! They are offered various scenarios, and need to imagine how they'd create appropriate sound effects for each one.
This was a hugely popular activity in my ELA class - lots of focus, fun, and creativity!
