After buddy reading for science or social studies during whole group or stations, I made this for my kiddos to “reflect” on what was read.
In science, we are reading about moon phases and constellations, etc. After reading, students needed to give at least 5 “Did you knows…?” statements. Most will give me up to ten each time. Each sentence has to start with “Did you know…?” and end with a question mark. (1. Did you know that the big dipper is located in Ursa Major?)
The second part of the activity is for a Kagen strategy where students can find other students that might have a different “did you know.” You can mix-pair-share (or any other strategy) and have them discuss their “did you know”s. When they find one from another student that they do NOT have on their top ten, they can put it on the bottom “Oh yeah, and another thing…”
