Homework seems like it is such a dirty word these days, but I still give it because I believe that organization and preparedness are important skills to master before moving to the next level in school where life becomes more difficult.
Over the past few years, we have seen more and more students coming unprepared to learn or participate in our classroom activities. I say WE because it is an epidemic school wide. So, I devised a little plan to hold my students a little more accountable...
Enter the "I Didn't Do My Homework" Binder and the Missing Work "Pink Slip," both of which are perfect for keeping kids on track AND important parent communication tools. I simply made a copy of the DDMH form and placed it in a binder for each class. I used tabs to divide student sections. It was then the student's responsibility to fill out both the DDMH sheet in the binder AND the Missing Work Pink Slip and give it to me by the end of the class period.
