We all know worksheets are discouraged and we know they shouldn’t be used often. But in kindergarten, how do you know they can write the letters?
These sheets offer a differentiated way to sparingly use worksheets. These sheets could even be used for your assessments.
I like to use these for our group work. In Tennessee, our new evaluation system calls for students working together in a group on a project. In K, at the beginning they can’t even write their name, much less work in group!
So instead of pulling my hair out, I created these sheets. They are intended to be used after the letter has been introduced and worked on. I place my students in pairs by ability and they work on their leveled sheet while I walk around and listen in on their learning conversations. This is something you must teach step by step and model many times.
You can see in the thumbnails how each level is different from the other. However, they are in the same format so students doing different work don't stand out.
