Why is this resource important?
It is EXTREMELY important for a below-level student to fill academic gaps AND get exposed to skills that should be learned at his or her grade level. This is so important for encouraging academic growth and for making sure that students don't stay behind in school. This document meets low students where they are and builds on their skills to help them fill academic gaps and get ahead academically.

What about on-level and above grade level students?
Passages are at differentiated levels. Students not only learn concepts and strategies at their current grade level, but they also learn ideas that could possibly be seen on high school ACT and SAT tests and in advanced high school classes. Literacy and Math Ideas goal is to not only help students learn how to analyze text and convey their ideas but also promote success that will stick even years later.

Students keep their reading strategy use sharp and review literary concepts at their own reading levels. This is an excellent tool for test prep and aligns with state assessments. This document provides one week of differentiated practice.

Features Include:
Students across different ability levels review the same topic, review reading strategies, and build content area vocabulary at their own reading levels. This is great because below grade level students can continue to learn grade level material and build their needed skills simultaneously. On-level and above level students are challenged at their own levels as they refine their reading strategies. The quick, daily practice keeps reading skills and strategy use sharp in just a few minutes a day.

What Makes This Document VERY Unique?
Read below to see how each level is organized.

Level 1A (Below-Level) Text Features:
1. Content area words are repeated throughout the passages and across the week. This helps students BUILD VOCABULARY and promotes VOCABULARY retention.
2. It provides quick and daily literary practice. Students practice reading strategies, in quick manageable doses to keep skills sharp.
3. Students are exposed to the same topics and vocabulary words as on-level and above grade level students. This helps students stay on track with their grade level work as they get support with their needed skills at their own level.

Level 1B (On-Level) Text Features
1. Students practice closely reading text that has more complex sentence structures. This helps on-level students learn how to tackle informational text and gives them the opportunity to practice reading strategies in just a few minutes each day.
2. Practicing each day for a few minutes is a great way to help students remember literary terms and apply their strategies. It is a great way to keep reading skill use sharp.

Level 1C (Above Level) Text Features
1. Students at this level practice closely reading passages and tackle text that is even more complex. Students refine their strategy use as they learn more vocabulary words and go in-depth learning about one topic at a time.
2. Each day as students closely read text and practice analyzing what they read, they become even stronger readers. The daily practice is designed to expose students to content area vocabulary words and sentence structures they are likely to come across while reading above grade level text.
