This final unit assignment is differentiated for a variety of learners. It includes instructions for creating a visual essay with rationale, delivering an oral essay with an outline, as well as a formal, traditional essay. The suggested topics are relevant and a rubric is included to address all three options based on knowledge, thinking, communication, and application.
WHO IS IT FOR?
It would suit a variety of learners and grades in secondary school. I have used this particular assignment with my grade 11 students. I tweaked it for my grade 12 students to have them complete the 'essay' using a literary theory. (** In my store I have PowerPoint presentations and specific lessons for five (5) different literary theories that could support this option too!**).
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Students have the option of creating, saying, or writing an 'essay' as a final assignment for a novel study unit. Based on a suggested list of topics students will develop a thesis, 'write' an essay, and provide a rationale for their decisions.
