This set of task cards contains 3 color-coded packets of cards so that 3 groups can work at one time. In the first group. An idiom is written in a sentence and underlined. Three possible meanings are provided and the student must choose the one that best fits the sentence to make the statement more exciting. The second set has an idiom on a card and the student is directed to draw the literal meaning and then provide the figurative meaning of the idiom. The third set of cards consists of a short story with words in parentheses and a choice of 3 phrases, only one of which is an idiom that will make the sentence make sense and make the sentence more interesting. The goal in all of these packets are to have the student understand how idioms add interest to writing. The common core skill is listed on the cover sheet and answer keys are included. There are 10 cards in each set. Thought the are color coded, each card is labeled by set number so they can be printed in gray scale.
They work great for differentiation, common core, early finishers, reteachig, small group practice, quick assessment, homeschoolers, and many more activities.
