PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

I made these prompts to use for my writing center for the months oF January and February. Topics include New Years, MLK Jr. Day, Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, and President's Day. All pages are set up in the format that our literacry initiative has implemented. This format is Topic sentence, First, Next, Then, Last, and I think sentence.

My morning class is at or above grade level and are independent writers. They just need a prompt and reminder of the format. My afternoon class has students who are working below grade level and need more guidance with their writing. They have one sentence less (next,) than the morning class. My students love these prompts and it has helped with all of their writing tremendously!

I hope your class loves them just as much!

If you like this format and would like me to put up the other prompts I have made, please leave feedback and let me know! I make sheets like this weekly that go with the second grade treasures themes.

The prompts in this packet include:
-What is your New Year’s resolution?
-Did you stay up until midnight on New Year’s Eve?
-Do you celebrate New Years? How?
-Would you rather be in New York City when the ball drops or at home with your family? Why?
-Some people like to go out their back door and in their front door at midnight when the ball drops to symbolize the saying “out with the old and in with the new.” Would you like this tradition? Why or Why not?

-Write a letter to Martin Luther King Jr.
