Differentiate learning in your classroom with this interactive research project! I use this project with my Personal Finance course, but it could also be used in a U.S. History, Human Studies, or Economics course. This file contains two versions of the project, one for CP and one for Honors level. Included as the preview file is a sample completed CP level infographic.
The CP version includes a list of generations that can be cut up for students to draw from to select a generation. Students then research the savings rates, money habits, retirement savings, and spending habits of their assigned generation. Students create an infographic displaying their findings. Piktochart is a free program that students can use to create their infographic. Once they create the infographic they can download the picture and submit electronically or print out to be graded. Included in this file is a rubric for grading.
The honors version includes a more detailed assignment for personalized learning. Students select their own generation and 6 key concepts related to Personal Finance to research. They can then choose to create a poster, infographic, or brochure. Included in the file is an assignment sheet for the task and a detailed rubric for grading the project.
At our school we allow students to "opt in" to the Honors curriculum, meaning they are in the same class with CP level students, but they have additional/higher level work. This project allows both sets of students to work concurrently on a similar project. If you do not have the need or like the idea of differentiated tasks you can select one version of the project for your students to complete.
