This document includes a lesson plan that can be adapted for a general education classroom, an inclusion setting, or a self-contained exceptional education classroom. an in-depth lesson plan for small group reading for grades 1st- 4th, depending on the students' reading abilities. Also, this lesson can be used in an exceptional education, self-contained classroom. Accommodations and Modifications are listed. The lesson includes various components such as the introduction, using prior knowledge, decoding of words, guided practice, closure, materials, homework, and resources. This lesson plan would be considered differentiated instruction (based on the product.) In addition, this lesson can be adapted through editing and revising to meet the needs of diverse students and/or based on another type of reading. However, the document has questions (ranging from basic recall to synthesizing) and assignments geared towards Carlos Helps Out. Lastly, the lesson provides reading strategies and classroom management ideas. Assessments are provided to measure the same objective; however, the methods are divided by the following: advanced learner, on-grade level learner, and below level learner.
