The possibilities are endless for these differentiated main idea worksheets...silent/independent reading, a guided reading group activity, literacy center, reading homework response, etc. There are 2 levels in order to meet the wide range of ability levels in your classroom.
Level 1- students will record the title of the text, trace the key words in the main idea definition, state the main idea & 2 supporting details. An example is provided for the students on the worksheet.
Level 2- students will record the title of the text, state the main idea in a complete sentence & provide 3 supporting details. The definition of main idea is provided for the students on the worksheet.
