Literacy for April is not differentiated because students are asked to write different types of poems. They will write and learn about acrostics, couplets, quatrains, concrete, lyric poems, bio poems, limerick poems, and diamante poems. Included in the literacy section is a word search and a chart for students to practice rhyming words to use later on to help them write their poems.

The summer packet also includes a writing section! Students will have 5 different writing topics that has differentiated writing plans. Level 1 will write 1 paragraph level 2 will write 2 paragraphs and level 3 will write 2-3 paragraphs. Each level also has rough draft pages and final draft pages. I make several copies of the rough draft and final draft pages so they have plenty of room to write. Also, included is an editing sheet for students to check off after they have edited their rough drafts and before the write the final draft. I make 5 copies of the editing sheet, one copy for each writing topic.
