Students work towards fulfilling, "I can translate multiplication comparisons from words to math sentences." This product includes both an on-grade level AND extension handout for your students who need a bit of an additional challenge. Ideally, students would receive either one or the other - not both handouts. The sample shown in the thumbnail above is the on-grade level handout.
Each page consists of six short math stories (or word problems, if you choose to call them that). Students are required to translate the math story into a multiplication sentence and then illustrate it with either an array or a bar model. Upon completion, students are encouraged to write their own comparison math stories.
This handout could function for:
* Math centers
* Independent work after a mini-lesson
* Collaborative investigations
* An assessment
