There are 6 number talks included. Three are addition and three are subtraction. These number talks have been differentiated for three different levels of addition and subtraction. They can be used in small groups or guided math. Or they can be used whole group as students progress in their understanding of addition and subtraction.
What do these number talks look like?
They include a problem, anticipated answers, expectations (a PPT slide of rules- can be printed), and questions to guide thinking.
What kinds of problems are there?
Addition: Addition of three single-digit numbers (7+2+3), Addition of two single-digit numbers and one two-digit number (7+12+3), and Addition of three two-digit numbers (23+42+15)
Subtraction: Subtraction of two numbers-one two-digit and one single-digit (12-7), Subtraction of one two-digit number and two single-digit numbers (17-5-2),
Subtraction of two two-digit numbers and one single digit number (25-12-3).
