Product Description
This activity can be used in Daily 5 word work centers or literacy centers. This activity asks students to build words in the "am," "ug," "ile" and "est" families. Each flower pot has a word family/rime printed on it. Each flower has a different onset or beginning sound. Students will combine the flower with the pot to create words. Students are asked to decide of the words are real or nonsense and only record real words on the recording sheet. This center is differentiated by the kinds of words students can create CVC, CVCC or CVCe words. This center is aligned with common core standards: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.2c Blend and segment onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words and CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.2e Add or substitute individual sounds (phonemes) in simple, one-syllable words to make new words.
