PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Use this differentiated matching activity to integrate phonics, sight words, fluency and comprehension!

There are 8 different versions of this differentiated phonics matching activity so you can choose different versions for specific levels of learners, yet still focus on the same phonics sound.

Version 1: er, ir, ur with Word Only
Version 2: er, ir, ur with Dolch Pre-Primer words 1-20
Version 3: er, ir, ur with Dolch Pre-Primer words 1-40
Version 4: er, ir, ur with Dolch Primer words
Version 5: er, ir, ur with Dolch First Grade words
Version 6: er, ir, ur with Dolch Second Grade words
Version 7: er, ir, ur with Dolch Third Grade words
Version 8: er, ir, ur with Picture Only and blank boxes so you can insert your own sentences or have students write their own sentences

*each version includes a full color and black/white copy

Sight words from previous lists may be included in the reading portion, but not words from higher lists. Example: Version 5: er, ir, ur with Dolch First Grade words may include words from the Pre-Primer and Primer list, but not the Second or Third Grade list.

I always have students cut and initial on Monday, read and match on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and read, match, and glue on Friday. This gave them lots of phonics, sight word, fluency, and comprehension practice for the entire week!

Monday: Students cut out their cards and write their name, initials, or student number on the back (in case a card gets misplaced). Then, students read and match the illustration to the appropriate text. Once students have finished, you (or even other students) can check their accuracy. Once checked, students store their cards to be used again.

Tuesday - Thursday: Students read and match the illustration to the appropriate text. Once students have finished, you (or even other students) can check their accuracy. Once checked, students store their cards to be used again.

Friday: Students read and match the illustration to the appropriate text. Once students have finished, you (or even other students) can check their accuracy. Once checked, students glue their cards on a piece of paper for you to assess, display, and send home.
*I have also asked students who need extra practice to skip the gluing stage and take their cards home to continue practicing.

This activity can be used during whole group, small group, and literacy centers. I have also used (and loved) it as morning work for students!
