Students will rename whole numbers by regrouping using Base 10 Blocks or Mental Math (2 Sets Included)
In Set A students use Base 10 Blocks to model a whole number, then a partner must rename or regroup the whole number into tens or hundreds.
In Set B students use mental math to rename or regroup whole numbers into tens or hundreds. Students are asked to discuss with a partner how they regrouped.
You will need…
•A Bin of Base 10 Blocks (if you do not have models, you can laminate blackline masters from http://lrt.ednet.ns.ca/PD/BLM_Ess11/table_of_contents.htm. Use different colored cardstock)
•Laminated Set A and Set B
•A bin where students can hand in the completed chart
•A copy of the chart and answer key
