This is a reading comprehension literacy center. This center could be used in grades 2-5 and is a great differentiated center. There are many strategies for teaching gifted students included in the center. This center came about because my students were having difficulty staying on task during their independent reading groups. This made all the difference in the world. Now when students go to an independent reading center, they are on task and not only do they read, but they have open ended activities to complete according to books on their reading level. Students have choices between student menus, tic-tac-toe boards, game boards, bloom's ball, anchor activities, cubes, and graphic organizers. All activities include Bloom's Taxonomy. This center is ideal because students are working according to their independent reading level. Students enjoy the center as well. You may use it as a separate center, but if you choose not to, each activity is a wonderful way to iincrease student reading comprehension on any story. Kathryn Willis
