This Reading Project Menu is designed to be used as a 6-weeks or quarterly independent reading project. Students use a book they've read to complete one of the projects listed on the menu.

*A Microsoft Word version have been included so that you can edit the menu to fit your group of students.

Analyze how and why individuals, events, and ideas develop and interact over the course of a text.
Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas.
Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.
By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, in the grades 6–8 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.
Analyze how an author develops and contrasts the points of view of different characters or narrators in a text.
