This product includes two different versions of a memory-style matching game. In one version, students match pictures with the initial s-blends they begin with. More advanced students can match pictures with the whole word cards. The file also includes both B&W and color versions of the picture cards.
To ensure that students can't see through the backs of the card, print the color versions on white card stock. If desired, you can print the B&W versions on bright, colored paper. For added durability, laminate the cards.
To play, students simply turn over all the cards on a flat surface. They take turns flipping over two cards and reading the blends or words. When a students get a match, s/he keeps the match. The game ends when all cards are gone. The student with the most matches is the winner!
You may wish to use the sc- cards and the sk- cards separately, as these blends make the same sound. Simply take one set of blends or the other out of the set and play as usual.
As a special education teacher, I made sure to use a clear, easy-to-read font and to keep distractions like fancy borders, etc., to a minimum.
