I created this as differentiation was needed within my second grade classroom. I had students with very different ability levels. I needed everyone to learn and be successful. The five different levels allow students to progress to the higher level list as their skills improve. **Please note** The green list was taken directly from the Harcourt Trophies spelling list provided by the Harcourt reading series. I did not create the list, I adapted it for use in my classroom.
Here's a rough break down of the lists.
The Red list was created for my ell and special education students. It has 5 words following the spelling pattern for the week.
The blue list is for those students that are becoming more proficient. This list has 8 words and follows the spelling pattern as well.
The yellow list has 12 words, the spelling pattern is followed and it also has lifetime words or important sight words.
The green list is the traditional 18 word list provided by harcourt trophies. This list is not modified in any way. I did not create this list.
The orange list has 18 words beginning with the 5 challenge words provided by harcourt trophies. The other words were selected by me to support the high achiever. I tried to follow the spelling pattern and expand student vocabulary.
