Each week of spelling contracts contain two lists, on-level and above-level. Students complete the contract as homework and return it for a grade. I usually pass out the contracts to my class on Monday and have the students turn them in on Thursday. I give students a pretest the week before to decide which list they should get. The smile list is the more challenging list.
Each week, both lists follow the same pattern and have some words in common so when it comes time to take the test (which I also created to match these lists), the students can have the same dictated words.
The contract includes activities they should complete at home that they do NOT have to turn in to be graded, but require parent initials to prove completion. This helps them to prepare for Friday's test.
This is a time saver for spelling so I do not have to teach it in the classroom. Everything except the test is completed at home.
I also have spelling tests that match these contracts that are sold separately.
I will be posting contracts and tests for weeks 11-20 and 21-30 as they are created throughout the year to complete the 30 week unit.
