Practice close reading while learning about the world's second biggest religion with this differentiated unit. Meet all of your students' needs while learning about a common topic. This resource is written to be used for students learning about world religions and cultures. It is written with the idea that most students reading the resource are not Muslims themselves.
This resourced includes a passage on the Five Pillars of Islam written for three different levels of readers. Additionally, there are two vocabulary exercises, comprehension questions for each passage (including a multiple choice version for the easiest passage), and a graphic organizer. Each activity comes with an answer key.
All resources can be seen in the preview, so you can decided if the texts are right for your readers.
Level I- The easiest to read, as it includes a picture of each pillar of Islam. The Arabic translations are provided under the image, as to not complicate the sentences. The keyword for each pillar are bolded.
Level II- Includes text features, such as illustrations with captions and definitions of difficult vocabulary. Details about each pillar are kept to a minimum.
Level III- Includes the fewest illustrations and the most details. Very informative for older or more advanced learners.
