The To Kill a Mockingbird Quote Journal can be used throughout the reading of the novel. With this assignment, students will learn to quote a text correctly and analyze the significance of a quote. This assignment allows for literary analysis and practice with parenthetical citations. It's also a great tool to use in preparing students for essay writing with literary works. Three versions of the assignment representing two different achievement levels have been included to allow for easy differentiation and scaffolding. I have used the beginner version with 9th graders and resource students very successfully, and I have used the advanced versions in honors classes with the same success. However, the best part is both versions looks so similar that they can be used in the same classroom with different students and the students will never realize it. A blank editable version is also included for use with other novels!
