This is an activity that I give to my children for "free-writing" time before Thanksgiving or Christmas. I give my lower-ability writers the Acrostic Poem version of this document. They need only think of an adjective for each letter of the word turkey. I also have turkey adjectives posted on my word wall for them to use, if needed. My higher ability writers are required to use complete sentences and punctuation to write a short description of a turkey or a short, fictional story about a turkey. Once they have completed their writing, they are to draw a picture of a turkey in the box at the top of the sheet. They are encouraged to fill the entire box with their picture. I often paste these worksheets to coloured construction paper, laminate them and hang them on our bulletin board display in the school's hallway. You can create a simple rubrique with writing and drawing expectations in order to use this sheet as an assessment piece.
This is my first uploaded item so I'm welcome to feedback!
